Getting the most out of your Delta Dental insurance policy starts with preventive dental care. While at-home oral hygiene practices like brushing and flossing are certainly important, it’s not enough to maintain a healthy smile. You need to visit a dentist every six months for a checkup and cleaning!

Not only will these routine appointments help prevent issues like decay and gum disease, but they allow you to enjoy the fully covered benefits that you’ve already paid for. By visiting us regularly, you can lower your chances of having to pay for services that aren’t 100% covered.

It’s true that every dental insurance policy is unique. However, the benefits you can expect to enjoy are very similar to others. Below, you’ll find a typical breakdown of your Delta Dental plan and your expected coverage:

  • Preventive dentistry (i.e., dental checkups and cleanings) is typically 80 to 100 percent covered.
  • Basic restorative dentistry (i.e., tooth-colored fillings) is 70 to 80 percent covered.
  • Complex restorative treatments (i.e., dental crowns, bridges, dentures) are usually about 50 percent covered.

Since cosmetic procedures are considered elective, they’re not usually eligible for coverage.
