Was fully impressed by the staff and Dr Hansen… clean, organized, professional, and timely. It’s scary finding a new dentist knowing you need work done, but I feel 100% confident in them going back for crowns.

Dr Hansen and his staff are warm and professional, and offer patients convenient, caring, and expert care. I’ve never had a dentist offer such complete dental health (like checking BPs and measuring gum health at every visit). They are terrific and I highly recommend their services!

Frequently Asked Questions, Answered!

Whether you’re new to the area and looking for a dentist nearby or you’re a long-time patient of ours who is interested in a specialty service, like dental implants, you may have a question or two on your mind. While we’re just a phone call away, we also know that it isn’t always convenient to get on the phone. So, we’ve answered some FAQs below!

What level of education is required to be a dentist?

First, the aspiring dentist must obtain their undergraduate degree and be accepted to one of 67 accredited dental schools in America. After 3+ years of rigorous in-classroom and hands-on training, they earn their Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) degree, making them a licensed dentist. In order to maintain their license, they must complete continuing education hours each year so they can learn about the latest techniques and technologies in the field.

As for our dentist in your area, Dr. JD Hansen, he completed his undergraduate degree at BYU and his dental doctorate at the University of Louisville. Since graduating, he has undergone a GPR residency at the University of Utah, completed countless hours of advanced training, and become certified in IV sedation. His goal is to use everything he has learned over the years to provide his patients with the calm, positive, and comfortable experience they deserve while caring for their smiles.

What do you do if you can't afford a dentist?

Sometimes, patients are hesitant to schedule an appointment because they are worried about the price. To help, our dental team near you offers several financial solutions, starting with dental insurance. If you are uninsured or your provider doesn’t cover the cost of the treatment you’re interested in, then consider signing up for flexible financing or our dental membership plan (which comes with a 30% discount on treatments completed at our dental office in Cottonwood Heights).

How do I get emergency dental care?

If there is a crack in your enamel, your dental crown is loose, or you’ve knocked out a tooth, don’t wait – call our team at White Peak Dental right away. Over the phone, a helpful member of our team will ask you a few questions to assess the urgency of the situation. Then, they can schedule an appointment for you with our dedicated dentist in your area.

Important reminder: If you’re bleeding uncontrollably, you’re having trouble breathing, or you’re experiencing any other potentially life-threatening symptoms, it’s important that you call 911 or go to the ER to get the medical attention that you need.

How much does a dental checkup and cleaning cost in Cottonwood Heights?

The price you pay will depend on several factors, including if you have dental insurance. After all, most providers cover 100% of the cost of essential preventive care, including routine checkups and cleanings. So, the best way to get an accurate estimate of the price is by giving us a call.
